Être avec des gens qu'on aime, cela suffit.

For history lovers...

The fortified cities or bastides were built during the Middle Ages. At various places the same market still takes place as in the old days. You can read this at times when entering the bastide, e.g. “Le marché de Villereal depuis le 12ième siècle.”

These bastides and medieval towns are worthwhile visiting:
Belves, Monpazier, Villereal, Monflanquin, Penne d'Agenais, Domme, Issigeac, Beaumont du Perigord, Eymet, Cahors, Castillones, Gourdon, Puy l’Eveque, Fumel.

Numerous castles were built during the Hundred Years
war (1337-1453) between France and England: Château de Biron, Château de Bonaguil, Château de Castelnaud in Dordogne, Château de Beynac, Château de Commarque, Château de Monbazillac, Château des Milandes and Château de Gavaudun.

The churches and monasteries go even back more in time – as of the 4
th century Catholicism gained popularity in Aquitaine and the local citizens participated in building palaces, monasteries and abbeys: St. Avitus Senieur Abbey, Abbey Cadouin, Allemans-du-dropt, Church and chapel Monferrand du Perigord and the Monolithic church of Saint-Emilion.
